Advocacy and Information for Postdoctoral Scholars

Part of the PSA’s mission is to provide resources, information and representation for postdoctoral scholars at the UC Davis campus.

UC Postdoc Policy

The policies for postdocs at the University of California are outlined in APM-390. This document defines the different title codes for postdocs and other general policy. UC Davis determines the pay scale for its postdocs. The Office of Graduate Studies is responsible for postdoc policies on our campus. More information about policy and resources they have available for postdocs can be found on their postdoc webpage.

Advocacy for UC Davis Postdocs

The PSA works collaboratively with the Office of Graduate Studies to improve postdoctoral training. The 2000 UC Davis Postdoc Survey and the resulting changes in postdoc policy is one example of the joint efforts of the PSA and Office of Graduate Studies to improve postdoctoral training. In addition, the PSA Officers represent UC Davis postdocs on the University of California Council of Postdoctoral Scholars (UCCPS), which promotes postdoc advocacy by working with the UC Office of the President and UC Council of Graduate Deans. The PSA and Office of Graduate Studies also have memberships in the National Postdoc Association (NPA), a nationwide advocacy group for postdocs.

Resources

Our website hosts an Issue of the Moment page, containing articles written by current and past UC Davis postdocs. We also provide helpful information for foreign postdocs, links about UC policy, a career resources web page, and some external links regarding payment of income taxes.
