Issue of the Moment

We'd like to hear from you. Being a postdoc means being in the 'transitional zone'. You are no longer a student but you are not faculty either. What does it mean to be a postdoc? What should you get out of your postdoc experience? Is it training, or is it purgatory? What do you need to learn as a postdoc to become a good faculty member? What kind of faculty member do you want to be? If you decide to leave academia, what kind of job can you get to make your Ph.D. worthwhile? If you have ideas, tell us!
