Life in the Davis Area

Life in Davis

The Davis community is definitely one of a kind, but most people still manage to feel at home here. Davis is a fairly small, friendly city, probably best known for use of bicycles as the prevalent mode of transportation. Check out the UC Davis, City of Davis and Davis Community Network Sites to learn about our campus and city. The University’s Life in Davis webpage provides information about housing and local transportation. The Davis Enterprise covers local news. Information for international postdocs can be obtained from the Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS) homepage.

Life in Sacramento

More UC Davis postdocs are working in Sacramento due to the expansion of the UC Davis Medical Center campus. The Sacramento Bee covers local news and has local housing classifieds. There are several rental homes and duplex apartments within walking distance, just north of the medical center campus in the “Fabulous Forties” section of town. Alternatively, there are several apartments in Midtown Sacramento and in the nearby suburbs. There is sufficient parking at the medical center, as well as nearby Light Rail and Bus stops and bikeways around town.
